SafeGuard Facts and Statistics:
Fingerprints, pictures, and dental records are many times INADEQUATE because they change from year to year. DNA SafeGuarding is a superior way to ensure the identification of your child. Unlike photos, your child's DNA remains consistent throughout his/her lifetime.The "SafeGuard" service utilizes your child's unique DNA Genetic markers to establish positive identification of your child throughout his/her life.
1.DNA SafeGuarding for Children collection is more beneficial than a self-collection or other methods:
- Safeguarding collection, using a strict Chain of Custody, allows the sample to be used by any law enforcement agency or court procedure. Without a legal Chain of Custody, your sample will not be court admissible. SafeGuarding collection provides the highest level of evidence.
- If a sample is found at a crime scene, SafeGuard IMMEDIATELY provides your child's samples, which can then be entered into the FBI CODIS database for missing persons and compared to the samples found. Currently, the biological parents are being tested for paternity to replace the sample of the missing child. Biological parents cannot always be located and testing takes additional weeks.
2. Confidentiality is protected and samples are secure:
- SafeGuard samples are stored in an environmentally-stable facility in a locked fire-proof area for at least 10 years.
- Results and information of the DNA analysis are provided when released by persons listed on your authorization form.
- Each stored sample will receive a DNA SafeGuarding certificate and two wallet ID Cards.
3. Reasons to DNA SafeGuard your child:
- Identity Solutions staff has over 20 years of DNA experience and currently runs an established bone marrow sample repository of approximately 1 million samples.
- Identity Solutions will provide assistance with necessary contact numbers and Internet information for missing person centers.
